try logging into a console and typing "update-menus" without the quotes of course, then restart KDE. I had a similar problem using the new rpmdrake on the first 9.0 beta. I installed some software, and lo and behold, practically my whole kicker menu disappeared! Anyway the command update-menus worked. I'd suggest staying away from menudrake though. I've always had bad luck with it.
