Although this works almost out of the box (a near-miracle - it's taken a long time for Linux to catch up with USB PalmOS PDAs) there's one problem.
The 'almost' is tricky as finding the /dev entry to populate the Gnome Pilot Link configurator is not obvious and, I think, would be way beyond a new user. In my case it turns out to be /dev/usb/tts/1. It would be useful (not for this release of Mandrake, I suspect) if either a. it could be auto-detected during installation, if the PalmOS machine is connected; b. if it is not connected, providing a Control Centre applet to detect it on demand; c. no matter which of a. or b. is used, automatically linking whatever the /dev entry actually is to /dev/pilot.
