We do have autoconf-2.53 which I suppose is upper than the non
existant version you refer to.

[gc@bi ~/rpm] rpm -qpi /RPMS/autoconf2.5-2.53-3mdk.noarch.rpm

Version     : 2.53                              Vendor: MandrakeSoft


Verify that do have autoconf2.5 installed on your machine, it
would coexist with the main version which is autoconf-2.13.
