I also tried w/out devfsd, and using the proprietary
nvidia module.  Neither worked.

I sent another message (seems to have been lost) that
ssh'ing in and running clanbomber (toppler does the
trick too) unlocks the keyboard for one X session (you
can log in, use, and log out, then you're back where
you started).

Older, working cooker was XFree86-server-4.2.0-17mdk
