This is normal since rpm are already compressed! so
you will compress only a part of the CD enficiently .
so it doesn't do miraculous compression for
mandrake iso .
bnut diff between version could do it
(?)
example diff beta4 ->rc1

Hallo!
I've downloaded Linuxin, a Debian based 1 CD spanish distro
(http://linuxin.paislinux.net/). Here's md5sum's
file:
--------
620a0bb7696bf55f3a143220a8853002 ./linuxin-1.0r1.iso
16b9e54036cfd50458f649cb4907721b ./linuxin-1.0r1.iso.bz2
--------
First is the mentioned ISO. It's 698Mb...
And second is the same ISO but it's been bzipped: 250Mb... it's taken near 3
times less to download than a normal ISO.
Wouldn't it be possible that the ISOs were (also) bzipped ? They'll take much
less download time 8-?
I've tried compressing isos (I think redhat and mandrake ISOs) in the past
and they rarely become more than a few megs smaller. I suspect it just
depends exactly what is on the CD and how well compressed those things
are. Can anyone test with a modern mandrake ISO?
Yes, done for First CD ! Results
