Yes, but I think (not at home now) that with normal mount you can at least
still write to the floppies again once you deleted some files. With 
supermount you can not, the floppy stays full and you cannot write 
anything to it, untill you do a format.

possible, but it should at least let me write, even if it does not know
if there is still free space.

Nothing, but the kernel panic when writing a floppy is, I have to
agree with this message, rather reminscent of certain older versions 
of another OS.
