That is a missing feature, not a bug. Before draksound there was not the ability to 
switch.

What doesn't work in what mixer? Real surround is better in ALSA than in OSS. You get 
4 speakers working by
muting the very last mixer slider in alsamixergui (or alsamixer).
Play a bit with the mixer to find out how it works. I agree, the mixer is shitty to 
configure, and incomprehensable, but
it works.

No, draksound is a bit bugged and isn't sure about what is the default. (it depends on 
what is currently selected).
