knekos : 11/09 08:16 : Incident created
RC2: I have ATI Expert98 AGP graphics card in my PC (Bus
identification: 1002:4742:1002:84, Description: 3D Rage Pro
AGP 1X/2X, Module: Card:ATI Mach64 Utah). This is a small
bug, I run RC2 for several hours and until now I didn't
notice it. But I noticed that when I change graphics mode, my
monitors several times try to fit freqency, that never
happend in mdk8.2 with the same hardware.
What is a problem: The first few lines of the screen are not
correctly fitted in horizontal position. When I move a
windows with a text in the top of the screen, text appear a
litle like italics (several lines are moved a litle bit to
the rigth side). First I was thinking that this is problem of
my monitor but now I think it is a problem of ATI driver.
I observe a strange thinks when power saving is activated
too, sometimes my monitor makes terrible sound.
My monitor is 15" DELL (D1526TX-HS, 31.5-64kHz, 50-120Hz), I
run it in 1024x768, 24bits. More inforamtion on request.

This is a problem of my monitor, not a driver. It cannot fit
the frequency generated by ATI graphics perfectly. Before it
fit, it tries several setting, and screen is good there. The
problem is only in the setting that monitor uses as a more
stable. I will try to tune parametresr with XFdrake to remove
this problem.

RC2: I have the problem only with X 4.2.1! X server 3.3.6
with the same driver works well. And I cannot find a way how
to tune X server 4.2.1 to have screen in the same qality as
3.3.6 have. So, maybe this is not only monitor problem. I
don't understand this problem too deep but I can give you
more information on request.
knekos : 11/09 10:20 : More info provided
I don't know if this is a problem but when I run application
Configuration/KDE/Information/X-server, I have different
reoports for X server 3.3.6 and 4.2.1, my hardware is the
same:
3.3.6: 1024x768 (347x260mm), 75x75dpi
4.2.1: 1024x768 (292x212mm), 89x92dpi
