Yeah, you have troll...er I mean search the mailing list to find them. Here is a message that starts just one of many threads on the subject: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amanda-hackers/message/1865 Marc has a "super patch". I recall that I stripped out just the tape append portions of it. > What means is given when restoring to select > which of those mulitple copies are to be used? You lost me. Multiple copies of what? The tape append patch just allows more than one amdump run to write to a given tape (assuming you are not as paranoid as: http://amanda.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/29.html For example: Monday's amdump run is put on the same tape as Sunday's amdump run right following Sunday's amdump run. The tape catalog reflects this so restoring is no different than without the patch. You run amrecover, tell it what host/disk/files you want to recover and it tells you what tape to put in, knowing of course all of the amdump runs that exist on each of the tapes. It's totally transparent beyond not having to put a new tape in for each amdump run but gives you full use of your tapes rather than a single tape per amdump no matter how large or small the amdump run is. I should note that I have *never* been a victim of the paranoia in the FAQ-o-matic in all of the years that I have run amanda and used the append-tape patch. b. -- Brian J. Murrell
