David: Thanks for your suggestions on dealing with the lockups. I did a bios update for my motherboard (there is no bios update on the Leadtek web site that I can find for my video card) and I also moved up to the latest build on the NVidia drivers (#3123) but this does not fix the problem. KDE still locks up but Gnome does not do this. I'll wait to see if RC3 or the final version of Mandrake still have the problem.
