Hi,

I seem to be having a problem with my mime settings in KDE. From what I can
tell, it's probably due to update-menu over-writing something.

Here's the scenario: I open KControl, and go to FileBrowsing>File
Associations and go down to text/html. For kicks, I click Add and type
"kedit %u" (without the quotations) in the text box and click OK. KControl
thinks about it and then adds it to the list in the last position. I click
Apply and then quit KControl.

I then run menudrake and without doing anything, I click Save. After the
little scroll bar bounces back and forth for a while, it's done and I exit.
Returning to KControl, I check the text/html settings and now my "kedit %u"
addition is gone. Why did menudrake mess up my mime settings?

The same thing happens if I just delete the stupid "Create Web Pages" link
in the text/html box that points to quanta. If I remove it, and then run
menudrake, and save the menu, then the "Create Web Pages" link returns.

Notice, I didn't select KEdit from the list of applications. I just typed in
the command line. I read that running update-menu as a normal user can
cause problems, is this the same symptom?

The real reason this came up is that I have been setting Mozilla as my
default handler for text/html and occasionally, that either reverts back to
Konqueror or instead it reverts to downloading a temp file and opening that
in Mozilla instead. I'm getting rather annoyed, and at first I figured it
would be my error. But it is continually happening.

robby:~> rpm -q kdebase
kdebase-3.0.3-68mdk
robby:~> rpm -q menu

Thanks,
Robby
