That happens because you haven't installed the right package for your locale (es_ES?) and you have not installed default language package (English). Solution for the user, rm -rf ~/.sversionrc ~/.openoffice and rerun the OOo, after having installed the right packages. -l10n-es for Spanish, or -l10n-en otherwise.
