I have exactly the same problem with the Shuttle SS51g : onboard realtech 8139 (the chipset is SIS651) The network chip is recognized, modules are loaded (8139too & mii) but network cannot initialize with both static and DHCP IP address(time out on "ifup eth0")
I already reported it for 9.0 RC2 and it is still here in 9.0 RC2. ==> the annoying part is that it work perfectly in 8.2 If it can help, i am attaching dmesg and lsmod output : ==> I am also willing to test if a fix is identified Regards, FFF > ---------- Initial message ----------- > > From : [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To : <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Cc : > Date : Sat, 21 Sep 2002 01:42:45 +0200 (SAST) > Subject : Re: [Cooker] RealTek 8139 driver bad in rc3 > > On 20 Sep 2002, Austin Acton wrote: > > > I have the same chip, PCI card, static IP. > > Works fine on current cooker. > > Austin > > > > The on-board cards differ (FAIK) from the PCI cards in a revision number > (usually). > > And this seems to be a dhcp time out ... my box (with one of these > on-board RTL8139s) is one of the few that has a static IP in our network > ... but I can maybe take a look ... > > Buchan > > -- > |----------------Registered Linux User #182071-----------------| > Buchan Milne Mechanical Engineer, Network Manager > Cellphone * Work +27 82 472 2231 * +27 21 8828820x121 > Stellenbosch Automotive Engineering http://www.cae.co.za > GPG Key http://ranger.dnsalias.com/bgmilne.asc > 1024D/60D204A7 2919 E232 5610 A038 87B1 72D6 AC92 BA50 60D2 04A7 > > > -------------- EXCEPTIONNEL!
