Yes, it was/is. But my specific want/need is/was the kernel specfile, and specifically because I wanted to use it to package up my kernel-source built kernel. That is why I think it would be nice to keep the specfile within kernel-source (binary) package. It could then be used (assuming my changes were liked and incorporated) to package up a kernel built in the /usr/src/linux that kernel-source installed. > Yes, this is a very nice idea. I have successfully used it to install (via RPM) my custom kernel (based on the 2.4.18-8.1mdk update kernel) on my production 8.2 boxes. Worked just like the regular mandrake RPM. > I doubt you'll get it for 9.0 tho.. =) Me too. That is no problem though. > If you have a > working specfile, send it to Juan... It basically wraps all of the "actually patch and build the kernel" parts of the specfile with a conditional macro, which causes those parts to be skipped when only packaging. I will send it to Jaun, although my last couple of messages to him (about other things) went unanswered. I dunno if he is ignoring non-9.0 critical mail or what. b. -- Brian J. Murrell
