----quoted text below---- glynadgie : 23/09 05:28 : Incident created Problems with raid0 on Mandrake 9 rc3. When installing Mandrake 9 rc3, with the root filestem on /dev/md0, the system fails to boot, as the raid was not started. The problem is due to an incorrect initrd.img. I fixed this problem by unpacking and mounting the 9rc3 initrd.img, and comparing it with initrd.img on a working 8.2 system with the same raid configuration. As far as I recall, linuxrc needs two lines to load the raid0.o module, and mount the initial root filesystem on /safedev/md0. Device /safedev/md0 needs to be created. The raid0.o module needs to be copied into /lib on the image. After creating, gzipping, and installing the edited initrd.img, everything works fine. I also noted that /etc/raidtab was wrong, though I did not keep a copy. I copied raidtab from the working system. Please forward this to the relevant person at Mandrake cooker. Thanks. -----end quoted text----- -- Alan
