Hi,

I'm having problems here with accessing an NFS share where I'm a member
of the group but not the owner, and I'm not sure if it is a
configuration problem or what. I posted to the expert list yesterday
but got no answer.

I'm running 9.0 final as a client to a Debian 3.0 server with 2.4.19
kernel. I'm authenticating with ypbind, and access files across the
network with nfs. IP is gained via DHCP. This worked very well with
8.2, and still does with another 8.2 machine on the network.

The problem: I do not have permission to view files on the nfs mount,
despite me being a member of the group. I can view a file where I am
the owner, i.e. my home directory on the server. Group and user IDs
match on both the client and the server.

I see this in dolphin's syslog:
ypbind: ypbind startup succeeded

On the server's syslog I see this:
dhcpd: Added new forward map from devnet.int.dev-zone.org to 10.0.20.55
dhcpd: added reverse map from 55.20.0.10.in-addr.arpa to
devnet.int.dev-zone.org
dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.0.20.55 from 00:e0:4c:e0:6b:e4 via eth0
dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.0.20.55 to 00:e0:4c:e0:6b:e4 via eth0
dhcpd: Added new forward map from devnet.int.dev-zone.org to 10.0.20.55
dhcpd: added reverse map from 55.20.0.10.in-addr.arpa to
devnet.int.dev-zone.org
dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.0.20.55 from 00:e0:4c:e0:6b:e4 via eth0
dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.0.20.55 to 00:e0:4c:e0:6b:e4 via eth0
rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from devnet.int.dev-zone.org:994
for /net-drive (/net-drive)

I cannot see any other relevant messages in the logs.

This is in my /etc/yp.conf:
domain int.dev-zone.org server 10.0.20.127
ypserver 10.0.20.127

This is exactly the same setup as the 8.2 machine. It was setup using
webmin.

I do note that there is a difference in the organisation of /var/lib/nfs
between 8.2 and 9.0.

Any suggestions as what to check?

Many thanks!
Damon
