Ok the two problems I found were that if you go into mcc and goto security
level. For some reason if this is set to anything but standard you will not
be able to access the samba shares. Not sure why but when I set it to
standard it became usable.
Also to not is that if like me you have used host allow for added security.
Mandrake internet connection sharing for some reason defaults your internal
network interface to 192.168.1.1. This was not the default in mandrake 8.2 I
always selected my own numbers but in 9.0 for some reason the wizard set it
to something else and I am completely unable to change it with the built in
tools. So make sure you smb.conf says something like
host allow 192.168.0 192.168.1 127
or something like that if you use that line as I do.
These settings can be set by hand but I don't have the time to mess with it.
Thats why I mention what the default tools do. Still they should be a little
more sentient in setting things up.
