Hi there I installed 9.0 from scratch on a ABit Mobo with a 1Ghz Athlon, 512Mb Ram and a Geforce2 Ti Graphics card. On the USB ports I have a 3com USB PC Camera which is basically a Vicam cam. Under XP I use the Vicam driver due to the fact that 3com stopped supporting the cam.
Install went pretty smooth just as all the beta's and rc's, including the X configuration test. Now when I went to start X the system froze with a black screen. Not even Ctrl-Alt-Backspace would bring it back. So resetting is the only solution at that point. One thing I noticed is that during startup of the system the green LED on the Cam comes on and stays on. Under windows the led only comes on when the cam is actually in use. If I unplug the cam X will start just fine and dandy.
