I needed to manually compile it. Does it > get loaded? I didn't get loaded because there are still bugs in the initscript. I use the lirc_serial module from the kernel sources, it creates a /dev/lirc/serial file on load. So I also had to edit /etc/sysconfig/lircd to: DEVICE=/dev/lirc/0.
