--update *only* uses update sources. You should *never* do this to install
software, only when doing updates.

You should rather have used --media with all sources except updates.

If you didn't have cooker sources, a normal install of postgres would have
done the Right Think (TM).

Don't mix stable and cooker ... or if you do, ensure that that's not the
reason you are having problems (aka don't get caught out ;-)).
