I was having the same problem.  I believe that gkrellm-2.0.4 either
doesn't work right with AA fonts or something in the underlying
GNOME/GTK2 setup is choking, possibly b/c some of the fonts are bad.

I discovered this when I noticed that all my GTK2 apps were using AA
fonts (which I personally don't like).  Anyway, I unset GDK_USE_XFT
(which is set by /etc/profile.d/gtk2.sh) and restarted X.

All works fine now (eg gkrellm not seg-faulting).  Try it out and see if
it works for you.
