Edit /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0 and comment out the line
that launches xconsole.
This file needs to be updated since KDE doesn't use
kdmdesktop anymore.
It'd also be nice if something to the effect of the
following could be added:
elif [ -x /usr/X11R6/bin/xbanner ];then
/usr/X11R6/bin/xbanner
