I think it's a good rule of thumb to *never* install an RPM that's packaged for a different distribution. This is the cause of lots of packaging headaches which people often cite as a complaint against RPM, but I think it's just bad usage. Use Mandrake-specific RPMs; anything else, either build from the tarball and install somewhere other than /usr, or at least build from an SRPM. IMHO, of course :) -- adamw
