They suggested I use various PATCH.PL files, or some Kernel parameters such as "IDE=NODMA" all of the options failed. As I said, I don't think the kernel is booting far enough to start reading a floppy disk. I then went back and tried getting help from the TOPTEN experts using the voluntary support, after some discussion they suggested I report it as a bug so here I am... I have tried the two alternate kernels, 2.2.14 and 2.2.19 either by booting from the second CD (in LM8.2) or by typing alt1 or alt2 from the boot screen (LM9.0) - I don't know which kernels this will use... As I said above, both will do the install, one without the USB keyboard and one without the USB mouse, after the re-boot at the end of the install I get the LILO screen, selecting any of the options from that screen gives the same results as booting from the CD. IE the PC freezes / locks up and I have to cycle the power to recover. I'm afraid my French is embarassingly bad so I have no idea what is said above...
