I spend monday morning at a seminar on the art of java by borland.
the individual giving the seminar had an interesting point about the
standards for web services ( selling use of apps to businesses from your
own machines ), it being that while there is an open source standard
being developed, the .net standard will probably become the defacto
standard within a year. microsoft gave the ownership to a european
standards group, but remains the only organization developing the .net
standards. since " the evil empire has more money than god " they can
push the .net framework faster than the open source community can push
the open source version.
Borland is projecting a 300% increase in .net programming jobs within
the next year or two. with a further doubling of the jobs ( from 1
million to 8 million total over 4 years ) in another two years after that.
it may be an idea to include the ability to work with the .net framework
seamlessly for 9.1, definitely for 9.2
