Perhaps it is an idea to add the ``--ignore-space-change'' option to
the script that sends diffs to this mailing-list?
In .emacs

(setq show-trailing-whitespace t)
And `m-x delete-trailing-whitespace' also is a killer.
Or for in your .vimrc:
set list
set listchars=tab:��,trail:�
:%s/ .*\n/^V^M/
