Installed ppc 8.2 on Powerbook g4 667 gigabit ethernet. That is 512k,30gb, 16
meg video vga out (not dvi) airport.
I have tried to load all three ati drivers only 128fb works.
All attempts to load hardrake in order to try to configure airport (don't even
know if it is in there) result in a fatal non recoverable x crash

Hardrake must be probing something on your machine that's causing it to crash.
I don't own airport, but from what I understand draknet does take care of most
of the setup. Here is a link with some good info on airport also:

As for video, that machine is newer than Mandrake 8.2PPC, so video support was
not there yet most likely. The 550MHz TiBooks had a radeon card, which worked
pretty well with 8.2. When you are referring to drivers you loaded, is this the
installer or X? Generally the fallback if the card is not directly supported is
to use "fbdev" as the driver in X.
