------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2002-12-04 18:52 ------- No doubt that some languages in the world mix different variations of their "alphabet" symbols - arabian languages use different glyphs when an alpha char is at the start or end of the word, so that many alpha chars have three glyphs with three unicode points assigned. But that's something a bit of speaking "elsewhere". However, in european languages the lowercase and uppercase are different and announce different words. More so, this bug severely affects the usage of latin characters in the unix filesystem which is case-sensitive for filenames and directorynames - this bug boils down to the fact that the behaviour of bash scripts depends on the locale!! You can not transfer scripts between users or computers since the behaviour has become undefined!! Note that the current behaviour in mandrake 9.0 is not present in any earlier distribution like 8.2, it is not present in any other linux distribution, and it is not present in the current cooker version.
