I have a clue: my mozilla/galeon were crashing on www.nvidia.com.
Running from the command line, I got:

My only plugins vere sun java 1.4.1_01 and _swfdec-mozilla-0.1.3-1mdk_.
I uninstalled the second, and no crash.

Still have to try to rebuild it against current gtk.
