           Product: rpmdrake
         Component: MandrakeUpdate
Summary: Update Fails with Busy Servers
           Version: 2.0-9mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: RESOLVED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

User has several update packages to load at once through Mandrake Security
Update because the packages depend on each other. Mandrake Update does not
make a persistent FTP connection to the mirror while downloading. If the
mirror becomes "busy" between packages and refuses to let Mandrake Update
connect, Mandrake Update cannot continue.

Mandrake Update puts up an error with only two unacceptable choices. One is to
"continue anyway" without the package, which is no good if it is part of a set
of dependencies. The other choice is to abandon the entire operation. This is
a serious problem because Mandrake mirrors are often running near their limits
for anonymous FTP users.

Mandrake Update should either (1) make a persistent FTP connection to the
mirror so it cannot be interrupted until is has completed downloadig ALL the
packages in its list, or at least (2) offer a third button to "Try Again".

Yep, this is in the wishlist for 9.1. I hope I'll have enough time to add this
feature.
