------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2002-12-10 16:59 -------
Bug analysis :
when mime info files are modified (files in /usr/share/mime-info, which can be
modified by packages install or removal), nautilus detected this changes and
issue a icon changed notification which results in background property
(_XROOTPMAP_ID) modification..

In gnome-panel < 2.1.4, this modification of root background property was
resulting in leaking a background pixmap and pixbuf in gnome-panel, even when
panel was not transparent.. This was the cause of the main part of the memory leak.

The pixmap and pixbug memory leak is fixed in gnome-panel 2.1.4..

However, there is still a small memory leak, which can be only be seen when one
of the panel is set to transparent, by touching one file in /usr/share/mime-info..

Leaving this bug open until full fix is done..
