You need to add "CONFIG += thread" in your .pro file to get it to use -lqt-mt. However, it seems like if the Mandrake package is just going to include libqt-mt and not libqt, it ought to point libqt.so to libqt-mt.so so that -lqt works by default (there is nothing in the single-thread libqt that doesn't work in the multi-thread library that I am aware of. Obviously, the opposite is not true.)
