Please to once again answer stupid question:
Mandrake RPM naming conventions...
I run into this all the time. UNIX is very picky about capitalization.
So to make my life easier, unix programmers do NOT stick to one naming
convention when writing packages. grrr...
Usually I use no capitals. (K.I.S.S. rule)
1. But what if the binary is capitalized? eg. Maelstrom
2. What if everything (Freshmeat project name, source directory,
/usr/share directory) is capitalized EXCEPT the binary? (very common)
3. What if every other distribution is using one convention, but I
think it's stupid?
Is there some sort of policy on this?
Even the NAME changes sometimes... I did one package that was called
GChemUtils, gnome-chemistry-utils, and gcu, all by the same author in
different areas of the package (docs, binary, library, directories,
etc.)
What does one choose?
