I do a clean install from Cooker CDs built today (and one or two post-beta1 systems in the recent past), select "use existing partitions", and assign "/" to an existing ext2 partition.
When the dialog "check the partitions you want to format" comes up with the single correct option of the partition I chose and I click "Next", the install hangs. It does not respond to Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

If I choose "custom partitioning" to run diskdrake, I can choose "Advanced" and request a format from there which works fine. I did not check to see if the "check the partitions you want to format" dialog which comes up after that works, but deselected the partition and continued.

This worked with beta1.
