I got my three (and free) Mandrake CD images of a Linux magazine. I can't find Gnome Basic :(
The Linux documentation that gets installed with Linux says there's a media player called MPLAYER which can play DVDs - I can't find that either - I been through eavery search and option in the Installer, but no go. Xine isn't shipped with the DVD plug-ins to play DVDs either (but the documentation explains the plug-in isn't shipped for legal reasons, which is fair enough). So where is MPlayer and Gnome Basic - or do I have to buy the 'boxed' set of an OS I've already legitimately got?
On another point, I wrote a couple a couple of smaple 'Hello World' type sample C proglets to test GCC - and GCC said it didn';t recognise the file format from any of the "text" editors I used - i.e. Kate, etc. Does GCC require some special file format? I would have thought plain ASCII would be fine!
The proglets work in KDevelop - but Kdevelop is like Visual C and the MS MFC collection - it generates reams of junk for classes that are not utilised by a simple straight C proglet!
QT looks interesting though!
