When NIS is used to import user data from a Solaris
environment, the gecos field (/etc/passwd field)
may contain the ampersand (&) symbol and may also
contain additional data after the user name. Various
tools fail to properly expand the & symbol (to the
capitalized user name) and fail to terminate the
user name scan appropriately. This behaviour is
particularly acute with kmail, but is also a problem
with the login manager.
