During install it detected the modem (internal) and the ethernet (internal) in
the Toshiba. The modem connection was deselected, since I don't use the modem
connection. Continued with the ethernet connection which dhcp and automatic
IP address for my cable connection and put in the name of my machine.

With ethernet cable connection:
During bootup it brings up eth0 (which is the cable connection) and then tries
to bring up an interface eth1 here it fails and stalls (completely by this I
mean I more than five minutes)

Without ethernet cable connection:
During bootup it tries to bringup eth0, fails after a few seconds with the
normal error and message that the cable is disconnected (as in 9.0) and
continues with:
trying to bringup eth1. and here it fails and the machine stalls

Own conclusion: the dhcp is working (since eth0 becomes connected) however,
somehow 9.1 beta1 wants to bringup an eth1 (was not the case with 9.0)

Before sending this e-mail and to be sure I checked it again

See aatched output.

Best wishes,

Wim Salomons

description:
Installation of 9.1 beta 1 on Toshiba Portege P4010 oke. Network installed is LAN
network with automatic detection selected.
Reboot after installation GIVES PROBLEMS:
Bringing up eth0 is oke
Bringing up eth1: THE SYSTEM FREEZES COMPLETELY

Did the installation two times and bug is reproducible.

This was also a "feature" of 9.0 on the Toshiba and on my production machine.
The WORK AROUND IN 9.0 IS INTERACTIVE BOOTING AND SAY NO TO SETTING NETWORK AND THEN
AFTERWARDS FIX THE NETWORK IN MANDRAKE CONTROL CENTER.
