I've also been having this problem for the last couple versions.
Every time I try to enter the Configure screen from the login window,
gdm crashes and I get a core in /var/lib/gdm/.

The latest version (2.4.1.1-2mdk) now works for me.

Choosing System->Configure doesn't bring up the gdm configuration dialog after
entering the root password. Instead X is restarted and gdm reloaded.
Starting the configuration dialog from the desktop works.
