P.S. My printer, a Hewitt Packard HP Deskjet 845c, was correctly detected and
displayed as the one found. Just for some reason, it didn't get installed, and
things fell apart from there.

description:
I tried installing 9.1 beta 2 on a 30 meg partition of an AMD with a
60 gig hard drive, previously containing the stable 9.0.
All appeared well until the installation program got to the point of
configuring the printer. At first I tried just doing an upgrade installation,
then retried a full install.
Both times, it got to the printer configuration point. It asked if I wanted the
printer system initialized upon system startup. On the upgrade installation
attempt I said "no", on the full installation I said "yes".
Both times, the installation program asked me for CD 1. I put it in, and the
installation program could not recognize it (cd 2 was in at the time). I tried
going back to 2, and then retried 1, and both times it was stuck. I finally
pressed the CANCEL button.
The program then said "making printer port abailable for CUPS". Then I got "An
error occured. foomatic-configure failed.
Then I was told that the installation was successfully completed, and to reboot.
I pressed the next button onscreen, and the system rebooted. The partition
manager worked as before, and I tried to boot up linux. The system didn't
inititlize either KDE (which I'd requested as the default on startup) or GNOME,
but instead had me in text mode. Typing in KDE or STARTX yielded: "execve
(executive?) failed for /etc/X11/X".
Guess I'll have to reinstall Mandrake 9.0. Hope you'll have a new, debugged beta
release out soon.
