  Uhm...in my mom's gnome desktop, there's a New Login thingy under
  the Actions menu (or whatever that one is called). I can also see it
  in Enlightenment under the KDE menu (somewhat hidden there, tho,
  it's under Configuration/Boot and Init/New Login with GDM).

  Of course, this implies that GDM is running, and not KDM or XDM
  (don't know if either of those has this ability yet).
