I have encountered at least one (possibly two) problem(s) with init.

The first is that init 1 fails on each invocation, requiring a reboot
(through Ctrl-Alt-Del to switch to runlevel 6, to ensure proper
unmounting). Init stops after "Sending TERM signal to running
processes"; it fails to drop back to a shell.

Also, I get regular kernel panics after a few (12-24) hours of use
consistent with the kernel attempting to kill init.
