It works just fine at full speed in Windows XP on the same machine. I hope this isn't still here. Ah I will see in a couple of minutes after I burn mc CDs. The VIA Rhine is onboard and the 3com is a pci card. I think it is related to the apic and not to the 3com card,as my 3com card works fine in other machines and in Windows. It also works fine when I boot the kernel with the noapic option. Even when booting the kernel noapic, I am also continuously receiving the following error in my message log: APIC error on cpu0: 40(40) Thousands and thousands of times. dmesg also outputs the same message. The whole file is filled with it, although the system appears to be operating normally, although turing off the apic in the BIOS causes the kernel to panic even with the noapic option. -- Live long and prosper! _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
