The specfile has more weird things like that.
When you set debugging to 1 then still rpm will strip the binaries. There are
a few macros that can stop rpm from stripping the binaries. I didn't add them,
because I was wondering if you really wanted to enable debuging (they are in
the hackabiword.spec). 1.0.4 should be a stable release, or did you have
problems with it?
There are also a few make variables, which I simply don't understand. I
believe one of them is OPT_GNOME_BUILD=1 but afaik you can only enable the
gnome build by installing the buildrequires, then it builds it automatically.
If the buildrequires for gnome are not there, then it won't build gnome
support, with or without that make variable.

I made a hackabiword package recently. The 2.0 release will be around May
after mdk 9.1. So I guess for 9.1 we should have both packages around, right?
Maybe one of the beta's will be stable enough, but there don't seem too many
people on this list using abiword, so there's not a reliable test group for
it.
