Product: drakxtools
Component: drakboot
Summary: Install can't cope with partitions marked 'unsafe'
Version: 9.1-0.23mdk
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I did an upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1b3. On my PC I have an OS/2 partition on
/dev/hda2 which is marked 'unsafe' in lilo.conf. I don't know if that is correct
or not, but drakboot in 9.0 did generate it.
When the installation reaches the bootloader step, it gets into an endless loop
with this error message:
':Fatal: UNSAFE may be used with floppy or MBR only'. I found out by going to
the console that lilo produces this error because of the hda2 boot partition
marked as unsafe. I tried to manually remove the entry from lilo.conf but
drakboot keeps regenerating it.
Suggestions:
1. When lilo produces a fatal error, do something else instead of an endless
loop of error messages;
2. Make sure drakboot doesn't try to feed an unsafe hda boot entry into lilo.conf.
