Sorry, I didn't get an email with your first question from bugzilla...

Well, I'm actually only using DNS - but I'm using the default nsswitch.conf from
glibc-2.3.1-7mdk which contains: 

hosts:      files nisplus nis dns wins

After removing "wins", the lookup works correctly, no segfault anymore...

ssh produces a segmentation fault if it cannot resolve a hostname:

mr@nibbler ~ $ ssh
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped)  ssh
