This is not an MPlayer bug, but a problem with the ATI video driver from XFree86
or the missing xv support of that driver. You can force scaling in MPlayer with
-zoom, but it won't look better than with xine.
I don't know if 1429 is really the same bug, but at least it's closer related to
your problem.

Installation de mplayer. Lecture ok mais pb pour passer en Fullscreen: l'image n'est

redimensionn�e. (-> effet timbre poste). De m�me le changement de ratio est
compl�tement
inefficace (�a ne fait que changer la taille de la fen�tre, mais pas l'image)
Le player fonctionnait parfaitement sous Madrake 9.0.
pr�f�rences Video, seul le driver x11 fonctionnne (avec le d�faut mentionn� plus haut)
(La liste des drivers affich�s par gmplayer: xv, x11, xmga, dxr3, xvidix)
Ordinateur: portable Sony VAIO PCG-FX702
carte graphique: ATI rage Mobility (avec laquelle l'acc�l�ration 3D ne fonctionne pas
non
plus au passage)
J'ai essay� avec un autre lecteur vid�o: Xine qui fonctionne en fullscreeen mais avec
un
m�chant effet d'escalier.
