Hi. I had a stupid sound blaster sub bass system with two tweeters at home with no volume control.
Each time I set the volumes using aumix, the .aumix in /etc/ was written to when rebooting causing tinnitus for my neighbors because the system beep was re-routed through the soundcard. I ended up hacking "/etc/rc.d/init.d/sound" to use aumix and stop it from writing to /etc/.aumix. I think I also had to chattr the /etc/.aumix file. As I remember the aumix utility couldn't use the switches given from the initscript if there where a /root/.aumix file too. Could someone please look into this. At the least stop it from letting a non root user setting the volumes for the next boot. Chears. -- Regards // Oden Eriksson, Deserve-IT.com
