There is no need to reinstall, X config is after boot loader
installation, so the machine will boot up fine.

IMHO, X should fall back to vesa if it fails, and in failsafe, if X
fails, it should start X up in vesa and launch XFdrake. This would not
have helped the Radeon users on 9.0 who got a hang on X startup though ...

Then of course, if Mandrake has real workarounds like this, then maybe
they will also want to make a way for users without a working mouse be
able to setup a working mouse ...

As I have said before, this has been easy on windows since Windows95.
