------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-17 03:05
-------
- It may be necessary to change LANG when building some dictionaries with
national characters in the language name or in the alias files, at least
I couldn't use LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 when building aspell-es and aspell-fo.

- I didn't need to set LC_ALL.

- "%define lc_ctype" in no longer needed. Neither is
"%define languagelocal", but I've kept it, except for aspell-el (new),
since I don't know the Greek word for "Greek", and anyway the character
set is different.

- Somewhat related to bug 1713 and bug 1715.

description:
The new aspell 0.50.x, included in Cooker and the 9.1 betas, requires
dictionaries in a different format than the old aspell (0.33.x). Many of
the current dictionaries are for the old aspell, and therefore don't work
at all, e.g. aspell-no, aspell-de, aspell-sv, aspell-da and aspell-es.
(Generally all with a different version than 0.50.x or 0.51.x.)

I've contributed RPMs and SRPMs for *some* of these dictionaries to
ftp://ftp.linux-mandrake.com/incoming/:
  aspell-da-0.50.2-1mdk (Danish)
  aspell-de-0.50.2-1mdk (German, including de_CH)
  aspell-el-0.50.3-1mdk (Greek)
  aspell-es-0.50.2-1mdk (Spanish)
  aspell-fo-0.50.2-1mdk (Faroese)
  aspell-no-0.50.2-1mdk (Norwegian)
  aspell-sv-0.50.2-1mdk (Swedish)
The uploads were announced to [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Feb 05 and
Feb 09. ([EMAIL PROTECTED] didn't work: 'unknown user: "devel"')
Note that the version no. for the obsolete aspell-da is higher than
the contributed package.
