I had a look at dosemu recently. And although I never really used this software I think I can put it back in contrib.
Question is: Debian put freedos in non-free because the dos programs are compiled with a very old borland compiler, and supposedly therefore link against a (closed source) C library from borland. However, from the GPL: > However, as a special exception, the source code distributed need not >include anything that is normally distributed (in either source or binary >form) with the major components (compiler, kernel, and so on) of the >operating system on which the executable runs, unless that component itself >accompanies the executable. So the question is, if this c library is a major component of the OS Freedos, it's source does not need to be included if I am correct? Danny
